Tigers eye holds a rich history dating back centuries. It was used by ancient civilizations like the Egyptians and Romans for its beauty and metaphysical properties. While its discovery in South Africa in the early 1800s marked the beginning of its presence in Western culture, the stone was known to indigenous groups in that region for centuries prior to this.  South Africa is still a source of this stone, although deposits have been located in Namibia, Western Australia, India, Brazil, Burma, and even parts of the United States and Canada. There is a mine in Blue Ridge, Georgia, that is known for Tigers Eye stones. Tigers Eye is mainly found in areas with dry air, high temperatures, and a sense of wilderness.
